Unplugged Appoints General Michael Flynn and Mike Yeagley to Its Board of Advisors

Unplugged builds technology products to preserve freedom and protect constitutional rights. This is why we are thrilled to welcome Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, US Army (Retired) and Mike Yeagley to Unplugged's Board of Advisors—two names synonymous with freedom, integrity, and impact.

Bringing this caliber of experience and leadership to the Unplugged team is a huge step forward in advancing our mission.

Protecting Our Rights in the Digital Age

“At Unplugged we don’t just believe in a future of digital freedom and independence – we are building it,” said Joe Weil, CEO of Unplugged. “That’s why we are so excited to welcome General Flynn and Mike Yeagley to our Board of Advisors. They have both seen the dangers of digital tyranny up close, and offer unparalleled domain expertise as we develop a new mainstream platform that protects, rather than subverts, Americans’ constitutional rights.”

“Flynn and Yeagley know that our personal devices are the front lines of today’s digital battle. More importantly, they know how to win—by standing firm against surveillance, censorship, and centralized control.”

“The US is at a crossroads. We can continue to drift into a digital tyranny – living in a smartphone duopoly that degrades our values and promotes China’s. Or we can build a new future based on our Constitutional roots. Unplugged’s addition of digital domain experts like Flynn and Yeagley makes our position clear: we pick a future of digital freedom.”

General Michael Flynn: Leadership from the Front Lines

General Flynn is a subject matter expert in Diplomacy, Statecraft, Foreign Policy, Strategy Formulation, Defense, Intelligence, and other areas of national and international security. He served more than 33 years in the Army, Joint, and Special Operations Forces, with multiple overseas combat tours.

He is the author of 7 books, two are best sellers. He holds three master’s degrees, an honorary doctorate and currently serves as the Chairman of America’s Future, which is among the nation’s oldest non-profits.

His military career culminated as the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency and the nation’s highest serving military intelligence officer. Additionally, he served the 45th President of the United States, President Donald J. Trump, as the nation’s 25th National Security Advisor.

“With decades in telecommunications, signals intelligence, and national security, I understand both the power and the peril of today’s digital systems,” said Flynn. “Unplugged stands on the front lines of freedom in the digital age—and I’m proud to help lead it into the next era of secure, independent communications.”

Mike Yeagley: Bridging Data, Defense, and Innovation

Mike Yeagley is a national security consultant and the founder of Cohort.ID, advising U.S. intelligence, defense, and law-enforcement organizations on privacy-adaptive tradecraft and data-driven operational design in an era of ubiquitous technical surveillance.

He was a central figure in Byron Tau’s Means of Control (2024), illuminating how commercially available behavioral data intersects with U.S. government surveillance and how privacy erosion converges with state power.

“For those who operate in surveillance-saturated environments, privacy is survival, said Yeagley. “The same device data that fuels consumer analytics fuels adversarial targeting. Unplugged is building what the operational community has always needed: a secure baseline for modern mobility.”

Yeagley is a leading advocate for privacy as a pillar of individual and national sovereignty amid intensifying geopolitical competition over digital infrastructure, sensor networks, and behavioral datasets.

Building the Future of Digital Freedom

The addition of General Flynn and Mike Yeagley to Unplugged’s Board of Advisors  marks more than just an expansion of leadership—it’s a declaration of intent. Unplugged is not here to tweak the status quo. We’re here to redefine it.

As global powers, big tech monopolies, and data brokers continue to erode personal privacy and freedom under the guise of “connectivity,” Unplugged is charting a new path—one that returns sovereignty to the individual. With battle-tested leaders like Flynn and Yeagley lending their strategic insight, Unplugged is strengthening its mission to create a secure, transparent, and constitutionally aligned digital ecosystem for all Americans.

At Unplugged, our vision is bold but simple: a world where technology serves people, not the other way around.

Because true freedom doesn’t end at the edge of the digital world—it begins there.
